Otolaryngology
I can't figure out how to say the word... otolaryngologologolollly... but it means ears, nose and throat (ENT). That's where we spent our afternoon trying to diagnose River's funny breathing and to determine the severity of his laryngomalacia. That I can say; it means floppy epiglottis. They called his laryngomalacia "intermittent" and said it may require surgery if he does not continue gaining weight and also referred us for a swallow study. River was so brave today. Eventually he did cry- I would too if someone put a scope up my nose and down my throat. But he was asleep on my shoulder within minutes of the end of the procedure. I hope we can be as brave as he is.
